Trailblazing Spirit

Hello fellow cycling enthusiasts! Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the history and legacy of our club's namesake: Major Taylor.

For those who may not be familiar with Major Taylor, he was an African-American cyclist who rose to fame in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Despite facing rampant discrimination and racism, Taylor became a world champion and set numerous records on the track.

In founding Major Taylor Cycling Club of Columbus Ohio in 1979, our members sought to honor Taylor's trailblazing spirit and commitment to the sport of cycling. And in the years since, We have seen our club grow and thrive, bringing together cyclists of all backgrounds and abilities to share in the joy of riding.

As we look to the future, we remain inspired by Taylor's example of perseverance, determination, and love for the sport. Whether we're out on the road or gathered together for a club event, we strive to embody his spirit of camaraderie and excellence.

So here's to Major Taylor, and to all of the cyclists who have come before us and helped pave the way for our passion. We're proud to carry on his legacy, and we hope to inspire future generations to keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible on two wheels.

If you're a member of a Major Taylor Cycling Club I would love to hear from you! What does Major Taylor's legacy mean to you? How has your club impacted your life and your love of cycling? Let me know in the comments below. And if you're not already a member, I invite you to join us and see what all the fuss is about!
