Welcome everyone to Earth and Trail opening day! We, at the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Columbus, are thrilled to encourage everyone to ride their bikes to work or other places, in an effort to reduce vehicle emissions and promote a healthier lifestyle. We can all take inspiration from our very own club member, Rockwell, who recently began biking to work once a week, covering a total of 40 miles round trip from Gahanna to Groveport, OH.
Rockwell travels through the streets of Columbus in the Easton Gahanna area, making his way to the Alum Creek trail - Pathways Soccer Fields. This location was once a weekly meeting spot for several years for Black Girls Do Bike group rides, which was hosted by Shirley, Gabby, Cynthia, and Anika. The ride consisted of three different routes accommodating all skill levels - novice, intermediate, and advanced, with the shortest route always bringing novice riders back before the more experienced ones. This weekly ride attracted cyclists of all skill levels and was always a fun time for women and men alike.
Unfortunately, due to the owners of the Soccer Field no longer allowing cyclists to park in the area, the ride had to relocate to Groveport on Thursday nights. Although the location has changed, the weekly ride has continued, now held on Wednesdays. We encourage everyone to visit the Black Girls Do Bike Facebook page to stay updated on the location and time of the ride.
Let's all do our part in reducing emissions and promoting a healthy lifestyle by riding our bikes whenever we can!
